What will therapy be like?
I view therapy with a fully collaborative approach, a partnership where we develop a set of realistic goals and determine strategies for you to achieve them. Using evidence-based practice that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors exist in a triangle affecting each other we will create a safe space building awareness of these processes. While tailoring a strength-based approach that works best for you, we will practice alternative perspectives, learning to challenge and reframe maladaptive belief systems, and use the space to try out different behaviors and thoughts. I will listen to you to understand what does and does not work for you, and welcome feedback from your experiences.
I integrate the medical/physical with the psychological and social in providing comprehensive care and treatment coordination. This may mean having you see your PCP for exam and bloodwork or asking for permission from you to coordinate care with your other medical providers, if needed.
Since none of us exist in a vacuum, we will approach your physical and psychological health and wellness from integrating biopsychosocial research and clinical practice.

What can I expect from the free 15-minute consultation?
During your consultation, we will have a 15-minute conversation to explore your therapeutic needs and goals for treatment and determine if they are a match with the services and expertise we can provide. If so, then a 60 minute intake will be scheduled.

How does telehealth work?
We will connect using a secure online video/audio integrated platform. By meeting online, this eliminates the difficulty and inconvenience of traveling to an office and allows you much more flexibility and comfort. Telehealth has the benefits of you no longer rushing in traffic and losing valuable time in travel.
You can get the support you need from the comfort and privacy of your home, office, or even car (long as it’s parked). Before your first session, you will receive a secure link to easily access the private online platform via cell phone, tablet, or computer.
-
Is online therapy right for me?
Telehealth is secure, accessible, and convenient care for many people. Research has supported it as equivalent to in-person treatment for most people. During your consultation, we will assess whether telehealth is appropriate for you care and can address any questions or concerns you may have. Telehealth appropriateness is an ongoing conversation, if at any point you or your provider feels it is no longer appropriate we will discuss this and make referrals for the appropriate level of care or in-person provider referrals.
However it is not appropriate for everyone, especially those actively in crisis (i.e. having thoughts of hurting yourself or others and planning to take action on those thoughts, those who are engaging in regular, dangerous self harm, those who are actively abusing substances especially if the abuse is increasing). If you are in active mental health crisis, please call 911, or the suicide hotline 800-273-8255, or if possible safely transport to nearest hospital emergency or contact your local county mobile crisis service.
-
Is online therapy (telehealth) for everyone?
While telehealth is very beneficial to many, it is not appropriate for individuals in active crisis (i.e., actively feeling suicidal or having thoughts of hurting yourself that you are creating or have plans to act on, nor is it best for those individuals engaging in increasing self harm). If you are experiencing thoughts of harming yourself or someone else, please call the suicide hotline, 1-800-273-8255, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency department. Most counties in the United States have Mobile Crisis professinals.

What is PsyPact and why should it matter to me?
PsyPact is an interjurisdictional mobility that allows Dr. Nail to practice through telehealth in all states who have adopted the pact, currently approximately 40 states. To see an up-to-date list of states that Dr. Nail can provide services, please press on this link: https://psypact.org/mpage/psypactmap
If you live, work, vacation, or travel between states, as long as the state you are physically located in is on the list, Dr. Nail can provide you telehealth services. This allows for high flexibility and increases access to knowledgeable providers.
-
Do you take insurance?
At this time, Dr. Nail is only in-network with Quest Behavioral Health (10/2024), Aetna Commercial Insurances (1/2025), and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield (1/2025) and out-of-network for all other insurances. Treatment, outside of Quest, Aetna, and Highmark are considered fee-for-service, and payment is expected at the time of service.
However, many insurances offer out-of-network mental health/behavioral health benefits. We recommend you reach out to your insurance company or your HR/benefits coordinator to check if your coverage includes out-of-network benefits for mental/behavioral health services.
If you would like to use your out-of-network benefits, we can provide you with a monthly invoice (“superbill”) with the needed medical code(s) that you can submit to your insurance company so that you can seek partial reimbursement for the costs of treatment. Most HSA and FSA credit cards can be used to pay fees for therapy, as well.
We cannot guarantee that your insurance will cover our services.

What are the advantages of Private Pay?
Health insurance plans require a mental health diagnosis to cover services rendered. Some people prefer not to have a “label” or have their diagnosis follow them in their permanent medical record. Some may also prefer that insurance companies not have access to their diagnosis, treatment plans, or dictate the number of sessions allowed. It may also be that an individual is seeking therapy for reasons such as adjusting to a “new normal”, seeking balance in their life, or hoping to rediscover their authentic self which do not meet criteria for a specific diagnosis.

Will I ever be surprised by a bill from Attune & Bloom Psychology?
You should never be surprised by an unexpected bill from us. We believe in up-front transparency with our fees so our clients are never surprised by the cost of treatment.
In other medical settings, such as hospitals, there has unfortunately been a history of lack of transparency in medical billing. The Federal No Surprises Act went into effect on January 1, 2022 to protect everyone in our country from surprise medical bills. This act requires that all healthcare providers post on their websites and personal offices a notice of your rights and protections against surprise or balance billing, which can be found here.
We are happy to offer a formal Good Faith Estimate of the costs of services prior to a first session and at any time requested over the course of treatment.

What is your cancellation policy?
To cancel a scheduled therapy session, a minimum of 24 hours notice in advance of your session is required. If prior and timely notification is not given, you will be charged the fee for missed/late cancelation sessions. Late cancellation and no show sessions hurt three people: you, your provider, and the other client who could have been seen in that time spot. If an emergency occurs, please speak with your provider.
